The optical extension Cable is used for many applications. Normaly it is used to retain the factory CD changer while installing the Dension Gateway 500 unit into vehicles.
The extension kit is required because the Gateway 500 is mounted in the central console or under the drivers side dash and the CD Changer is located at the back of the vehicle in the quarter panel.
